African Pansy - Gold Vermeil

The  Pansy

Our family escaped to Vilanculos in Mozambique during the December holidays to avoid lockdown. On one of our adventures we  went on a boat ride and anchored on a sand bank just off Paradise Island.  Here we dived off the boat and went snorkelling. There before us lay an array of perfectly formed pansy’s.

We collected these off the ocean shore wrapped them up and brought them back to Cape Town to turn into jewellery.

So this little creation is mould  of an actual shell, unique to Joanna Loveband that me and my kids found in January 2021…

There really is something so  magical about searching for these fragile and delicate shells (what is a Plett holiday without wading in the ocean next to Look Out in the hope of finding one of these treasures) and nothing compares to the   delight in finding this rare beauty intact and then managing to keep it intact all the way back to Cape Town to!
